Hello! I’m Ken Carr, the guy behind the Twitter account @whatsuptucson. It was started as a idea in 2009 to highlight things going on around Tucson and the Twitter community responded. The follower count has grown in the last ten years to over 93,000 Tucson loving people.
@whatsuptucson originally featured mostly community events and has expanded to include a variety of locally focused news related content. Traffic issues, speed traps, fires, floods, power outages, missing people, school lock downs, the list goes on. There is also event related information, lost and found animals, yard sales, people selling event tickets -- even the occasional person desperate for a date. If it's happening in the Tucson community, it will likely appear on @whatsuptucson.
Thanks to you, @whatsuptucson has grown into the most followed local Tucson news and information source on Twitter.
I'm one person doing the same kind of work as million dollar corporate news organizations with large staffs and payroll. However, unlike most news outlets, @whatsuptucson is up to the minute information around the clock and is interactive. If you want to know what's up in Tucson at any time, just ask.
Thanks to your support over the last decade as followers, content contributors, and more recently financial contributors, I am able to spend more time than ever on @whatsuptucson. More scanner monitoring time, more development of content, more everything than ever.
I’m asking for your help. If you find @whatsuptucson useful to you (or even makes you laugh once in a while), I’m requesting a financial contribution. Consider it an investment in the kind of news and information that you want to have at your fingertips every day.
You can contribute through one of the ways listed below. From one dollar to a million, I'm grateful for anything you can spare. No amount is too small (or too large, either!).
Your support of @whatsuptucson insures it continues as a one-of-a-kind source of local Tucson information. I'm often told that there's really nothing else like it.
Thank you. I appreciate you.
